Get Your Local Business Website Ranked High in Google

It is vital in today's business market to stay competitive. As a local business owner you know that you must have a website of your own to do just that! However, having a business website is NOT enough. Hundreds of thousands of marketers have a website also and so you need to be sure that YOUR website is seen by prospective customers. How do you do that? By making sure that your business site is will show up at the top of the list in Google's search results. You want a top ranked website otherwise it is just a waste of time and money.

There are many, many people that you could contact in your area or on the internet to build a website for you. Website designers are a dime a dozen. You will find that they will charge anywhere from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars to design a website for your business. However, you will find that although they can build you a website they do know much about building you a website that will get you top rankings in Google.

The truth is that website designers are just that...designers. They can build you a site that looks impressive with all the latest tools and gadgets. But looks won't get your site into Google's top rankings and customers won't be able to find your business site. And after all that is the bottom line.

Google doesn't rank websites based on how they great they look or who has the most "stuff" on them or which ones have the prettiest pictures. In fact, much of the time that "stuff" can have a negative effect on your ratings and that is the last thing that you want to have happen when trying to look for customers and increase sales.

I bet you are wondering what it is that Google looks for when ranking websites. Well, Google's engines look for sites that are very relevant to the search term associated with the site. When people search for a term, Google wants to pull up information that they will find useful for that subject. Google will not bring up site information on the cutest or most innovative site. Google wants its customers to find relevant information.

So how does a local business owner like you get a website that's going to rank high in Google and bring local business to you? By optimizing your website. Through what is more formerly known as Search Engine Optimization or SEO your site can rise in the rankings and we know how to do it.

When we build a business website, we will optimize both your underlying code and your website's contents which will contain relevant information. By doing so we achieve a high rank in Google's search results. When your website is high in the rankings, and the higher the better, more people will find it and will be clicking on YOUR site which will help keep your business site in the top ratings. When people click on your site that will tell Google that your site is relevant to the search terms used and you will continue to move up in the rankings. When we build you a Top Ranked Website, you go right to the top.

Isn't that great news? We have even more good news! You will find that most good professional website designers are going to charge you several thousand dollars just to build you a website for your business. However, that is not necessary. There's no need to spend thousands of dollars on a website that is impressive for people to look at but will NOT bring traffic to your site. As a local business owner isn't that what you want a website for? Of course it is! More customers mean greater profit.

Improve Your Search Engine Rankings - You Can Do it Yourself

Whether you are a blogger or a web master, all of us wants our blog/site to be at the top of search engine rankings. We will do our best to get this done and are constantly in the process of achieving this goal. What should we do for this? Of course, hiring an SEO firm or a professional is a good option but many of us are limited to that option. The main problem is we are limited to our spending power. So what else can we do?

Well, there are some ways for us to improve the SEO rankings for our site or blog. We already have an article which tells you how to improve your SEO ranking through intelligent use of CSS styles. In this article we will see the top 10 tips to improve your SEO rankings, which you yourself can do and should do.

Bold is Gold: Whenever you include the keywords in your content use the tags around them. But take care not to use them everywhere the keyword appears. Once or twice is enough.

Linking, Linking Linking: The more links coming in to more pages in your blog/site, the more it is worth. Its tells a search engine that you have a lot of worthwhile content in your blog/site when other web sites are linking to different pages on your site. But if all the links are coming to your homepage, it tells that search engine that you a site/blog of little value and that your links are generated by automation rather than by the value of your site.

Offer Newsletters: The links with ezine publishers stay alive in their archives for many years. Offer articles to ezine publishers that archive their ezines.

Text Menus & Image Links: If you can't remove the image links in your navigation bar, make sure you include text links also and that the text links show up first in the source code, because search engine robots will follow the first link they find to any particular page. They won't follow additional links to the same page.

Multiple Domains: If you have several topics that could each support their own website, it might be worth having multiple domains. Why? First, search engines usually list only one page per domain for any given search, and you might warrant two. Second, directories usually accept only home pages, so you can get more directory listings this way.

Article Exchanges: You've heard of link exchanges, useless as they generally are. Article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. Get the permission and publish someone else's article on your site with a link back to their site or article. They publish your article on their site, with a link back to your site. This way both of you can have contents and will get legitimate links also.

Using Links? Title it: Use title for your links. This helps visually impaired surfers in a way that they will know where you are sending them. Some search engines figure this into their relevancy for a page.

Get a Site Map: A big site needs a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This will help the search engine robots find every page with just two clicks. A small site needs a site map, too. It's called the navigation bar.

These are just some simple tips that you can do for search engine optimization by yourself. There are a hundred other things and more that you can and should do for good SEO. But these tips to improve SEO will help you to significantly improve the ratings of your site or blog.

Help the Search Engines Index Your Internet Home Business

One of the big struggles any home business owner has is getting traffic to their website from the search engines. Every website owner wants the search engines to notice their website as soon as possible. The faster the search engine will index the website the faster you will see traffic coming in and with it the costumers and the money.

There are many different ways to get the search engines to index you and your new internet home business, some work better than the others, and while some work for you it does not mean it will work for others too.

1- Search engine submission. This is a not a much recommended step, but you can use it with a brand new website. It take time for the search engines to index your website, sometime it can take up to 3 months, in this time you can use this method, but not over do it. Once a month is more than enough, and no matter what you do, do not pay for a submission service.

2- The best way to make the search engines notice your new website is using search engine optimization, known also as SEO. It means you need to do some things with and to your website and help the search engines find it.

SEO is all about keywords. Doing a research for your main keywords and then using them on your website, in your title and in your text. Like any other tool, too much is not better, the search engines will notice you, but they won't like what they see, and they may index your website with the rest of the spam sites.

To avoid this worst case scenario, you will have to maximize your SEO efforts and squeeze the most out of them without making it look bad in the eyes of the search engines.

You also have to remember that not only the search engines need to notice you, but your visitors need to like you too. You website must be friendly to both search engines and humans. Once the engines will index your website, your visitors are the ones to read it, and they need to understand you and your business.

3- Other internet marketing methods will help you too. Blogging on a regular basis, article marketing with optimizing your keywords, and posting in forums, all this methods will help you build your backlinks, and the more quality backlinks you have, the search engines will like you more, you will rank higher and index faster.

This is not mission impossible, and internet home business owners all around the world already proved that it can be done, and you can do it to. It is all about learning SEO and implementing the search engine optimization tips. Take what you learned and use it on your own website make more search engine friendly and also people friendly. It will help not only help the engines to index you website quicker, but your visitors will come back again too.

How To Get Unlimited High PR Backlinks

Backlinks have become so important for Search Engine Optimization, that they have become some of the main building blocks to good SEO. In this article, I will explain to you what a backlink is, why they are so important, and what you can do to get them without getting into trouble with the Search Engines.

What are "backlinks"?

Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL's). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

In other words,Google can only tell if your site is good or not and worth a high ranking if other people tell Google they like your site. Backlinks are like popularity votes in in Google's eyes.

Google determines the most popular websites not only by how many links they have, but by the quality of those links. Every website in the world has a certain PR score.PR is how Google judges quality of a website. PR 3 is average and anything PR 5 and above means GREATNESS. Technically Google is just a robot which has to assign formulas.

There are good and bad ways to build Backlinks for your website. The best way is to get quality Backlinks from high PR Websites.

Getting quality backlinks without having to reciprocate provides a major boost to your site's Google PageRank, search engine rankings and traffic. I'm sure those are goals of yours. It is also a fact that people surf the Internet looking for information.

By combining those two ideas, you can increase your visitor traffic to your website, while getting new High PR Backlinks at the same time.

Increase Traffic to Your Proxy Site With SEO

So you have a proxy site its all set up works perfectly but your not getting much traffic, you don't want to pay for advertising but you don't have a clue how to advertise a proxy site yourself. Well why not perform SEO?

SEO the abbreviation for search engine optimisation can bring you 100% targeted traffic to your proxy site, with little to know work except some keyword research, on page and off page optimisation as well as a bit of patience you can increase your traffic to numbers beyond any proxy promotion service that is currently offered on the internet.

So how do I do it?

Well the first step is to pick about 4-5 proxy related keywords which have high amounts of daily searches and low competition, these are the keywords which in the future you will rank in the top 10 for. To do this you need to use a keyword research tool, now there are several options you have here. For this you can use paid keyword research tools which I recommend for any job however you could also pay a one off fee for keyword elite software. Either way you need some keyword research software to perform SEO.

After you have purchased your keyword research software just try researching simple 2 worded keywords which relate to proxy sites, contemplate what you would type in to the search engines if you were after a proxy site. Find some decent keywords with high searches and low competition and make a list of about 4-5 keywords.

The next step is on page SEO this is where you will add your keywords to your title tag, description tag and keywords tag. After you have done this write some content for your proxy site, I would suggest writing about 500-1,000 words with about 7% of this being your keywords.

After you have done this upload your proxy site and start building links to your proxy site through adding your proxy to directories, search engines, proxy directories and submission sites.

Ping New Content and Have the Search Engines Come to Your Website Almost Instantly!

You may be familiar with the concept of pinging. In blogging terms this is an automatic process when you publish a new post on a blog. The blog sends out a message to essentially tell other services "Guys, I have a new post for you, come check it out sometime".

Usually the website receiving the ping will do just that, and add it to their content somewhere. As I say this is an automatic part of blogs, and is one of the reasons why blog posts are quickly indexed by Google.

Google might take days to find your post when it next decides to visit your website.

However, if a website like technorati indexes your website the Google bot is checking that for new content hundreds of thousands of times per day. As a result it will often quickly find your post by following the link from technorati (or another site like it) and index your post right away.

Sure would be nice if this was available for non blogs, wouldn't it?

Well guess what, it is! There are free websites that you can use to advise these sites that you have new content available, even if it's not a blog.

All you do is go to a free website offering this service, and enter a title (read the section on titles/descriptions above) and enter the URL you want to be pinged (hopefully this is the page you have just created).

Leave feed blank (or if you know what you are doing, enter the web 2.0's feed URL) and click ping.

Anything up to 20-30 websites get immediately notified of your new content.

A few things to keep in mind about pinging:

1. Only ping when you have new content.

2. Don't overuse the services.

3. Don't limit yourself to just pinging the main page though, ping any page on the same site that links to your page.

You may have 10 or more things to ping for each website. That's 10 opportunities to get Google to index your page faster!

Of course, it's possible that more than one of these pages (which they are in their own right) will be ranked separately and take it's own position in the search engine results.

I am sure you won't mind if your website is ranked 3 or 4 times, would you? I'm certainly happy for that to happen to me.

Pinging is not essential as chances are your content will be found anyway. If you are impatient like me you want it indexed about 3 seconds after you've finished it!

Pinging can be a great way to achieve fast indexing (and rankings).

Please don't over do it though. These websites are free services so overloading their services isn't going to be a good thing (we all lose out).

In fact, if you are pinging too quickly you might get locked out for a period of time.

Make sure you keep that in mind. Pinging is a great way to tell the world (or the search engines) that you have new content and to come check it out.

Tim Buchalka has developed a new method for ranking quickly on page one for Google. Visit his blog pinging techniques website to obtain a special free report showing you how you can start doing the same.

How Does a Search Engine Work?

The purpose of a website is to communicate with people. You may be selling things, promoting a company or an organization or just wanting to spread the word about you and what you like. So, having visitors to your site is the central task about web activity, and more usual than not this is the main problem webmasters face these days.

When you have a website there are different ways to make people find it and visit it. You can send direct traffic, referring your contacts by email and other offline media or by ppc and traffic exchanges. But you can have visitors to your site simply being found in the search engines (organic or free traffic) and for this you need to understand how a search engine works.

There are two different types of search engines: crawler based (where actions are performed by programs or robots) and human based (where the indexing process is made by real people). One of the most popular search engines is Google, a crawler based search engine.

Do you know how does a search engine work? Basically it performs three actions:

Crawl or spider the web: searching for new sites and following the links to other pages. For this purpose uses small programs called crawlers or spiders that are continuously browsing the web. Spiders are directed by a crawler control module that gives the urls to visit next. When a website has been crawled or spidered is closer to be found by visitors but is not already showing up in the search engine result pages.

Index what spiders have found: storing a copy of the webpage that have been spidered. From this copy, the indexer module records the words form each page along with the URLs where this word has been found. So the index consists of a large lookup table where words are listed related to a collection of URLs relevant for these words.

Return results to search queries: presenting the most relevant results to that particular query or keyword. Results are presented following a certain order or ranking criteria, determined by formulas or algorithms used to quantify the relevance of the content against the words that the user is searching for.

Though the algorithm formulas are kept secret, the numbers of times that a particular keyword and the position in the web copy are the main factors to determine the relevance of the page for that keyword. The more relevant results are listed first in the search engine result pages.

This rank order must not be confused with the Page Rank, which is a number (between 0 and 10 in Google) that measures the relevance or popularity of the website in general and not related to a particular keyword.

Knowing how does a search engine works can give you a thoughtful insight of the aspects of the web design that you have to look after if you want a healthy and popular website. Mastering these aspects is known as search engine optimization (SEO).

4 Simple SEO Tips For Better Search Rankings and More Traffic

If you're like most people, you're looking for ways to drive more organic search traffic to your web site by getting higher search engine rankings.

It seems like everyone has an opinion on how to get these top rankings with proper search engine optimization. Unfortunately, you have no idea what to believe. After all, it all sounds good.

So how do you do it?

Here are four really simple SEO strategies you can put in quickly that will help you increase your search engine traffic.

1. Perform proper keyword research

Grab every keyword that is relevant to your site.

Think of keywords that may describe your product or services, even words relating to geography, accessories, relevant industries and even uses for what you're selling (think photography keywords if you're selling digital cameras).

2. Build A Great Site

A great site doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be more than basic HTML. It just needs to be easy to navigate so your visitors can find what they are looking for on your site without feeling overwhelmed or lost.

Use title and meta tags, a sitemap and natural-word URLs. A clean site without a whole lot of code is more friendly to the search engines.

3. Get Links

Quality links to your site plays a huge role in how high your site will rank in the search engines.

Develop a good web 2.0 link building strategy and start generating links from sites like Digg, Propeller StumbleUpon, Hub Pages, EzineArticles, and Blogger.

4. Manage Your Keyword Traffic

Once you are getting traffic to your site you need to analyze your stats.

After awhile, you'll be amazed at the number of keywords being used to find your site that you didn't even create content around because you didn't find that keyword or they keyword tools said they would get very little traffic.

Now you can build more content around those keywords for even more traffic.

Understanding Google's PageRank Technology

In the world of Search Engine Optimization, Ranking plays such a vital part, that it is crucial to understand how it works if you want to achieve the highest rankings for your own websites.

There are many different facets to ranking, and it is important to remember that different search engines use different ranking methods, however, lets just focus our attention on Google's page ranking system.

Google's PageRank technology is in fact the very heart of the Google algorithm, and because it determines page ranking based on popularity, it can be likened to a giant electronic voting system. Using that terminology, It stands to reason that the page with the most votes achieves the highest PageRank on a scale of 0-10.

However, it is not just about attaining the most votes. Notice how Google explains PageRank voting:

"PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B..."

"Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages' relative importance."

It appears then, that not all "votes" are viewed in the same way. A page that already has many votes will carry more weight than one that only has a few.

So PageRank is determined not just by link quantity, but also by link source importance. So in order to increase your PageRank, you need to get as many links as possible from other websites into yours, especially sites with the higher PageRanks, as they can have an amazing impact on your rank. For example, just one link from a PR10 page would normally be enough to increase your websites rank to PR8, but to get to that same rank from a PR3 page would probably require somewhere in the region of about 350,000 links.

The way PageRank functions across the entire web is by means of a logarithmic pattern, where there are very few pages with a PR10 (PageRank 10, the highest you can get), but hundreds of thousands with a PR0 (the lowest). In order for the average to stay at 1, any increase in the PR of one page is offset by a very small reduction in the PR of every other page.

However, there other factors involved as well, such as the location of keywords on your web page. Now you may wonder what the relevance is regarding where your keywords are placed, does it really matter? With Google's PageRank, it does.

It would appear that the higher the particular keyword appears on the page, the higher the ranking, and this applies to your title tag as well. For example, if you had a website that sells laptops, which would be one of your keywords, but you didn't use the word "laptops" in your title tag, then your ranking would be lower than a website that did. This is because keyword placement is a fundamental aspect to search engine optimization and is something that Google's PageRank analyzes.

The frequency of keywords also plays a factor in PageRank. A page about laptops which uses that word 5 or 6 times, may receive a higher ranking than if you used that word only 2 or 3 times. Of course one must be carefully not to overdo it as that could be viewed as keyword stuffing, resulting in your ranking dropping like a tank falling from the sky, or worse, being banned altogether.

One thing is clear. Page ranking is a very precise science. We have only scratched the surface here as there is much more to understand when it comes to understanding Google's PageRank technology, and as an owner of MyInternetBusiness, I have spent allot of time studying this subject so that I can impart some helpful information to my readers.

How to Get Your Site Seen?

It is known within search marketing that Google doesn't like new websites and that a site has to age significantly before it starts showing up in the search results. I have found this to be completely untrue as I have proved that you can get to number 1 in Google in a matter of weeks, in my case it was around 6 weeks. But after only a week of being live my site was in position 9 for my chosen keyword!

So how did I do it? Well I built the site using and xhtml and CSS and ensured it was crawler-friendly; I then wrote some really good text and made sure I used H1 tags and Meta data correctly. I basically just followed Google's advice and I am now reaping the rewards. It only took a week or two before each page got indexed. You might think I spent hours sourcing inbound links or spend hundreds on directory bought links but I didn't. The site has no link popularity at all. It has just one link from a free directory which was how the site got indexed in the first place.

One thing I did do was research keywords to make sure I wasn't taking on more than I could chew. It is very difficult to work out what phrases your target market might be searching for. There are some research tools which could help like Wordtraker and Google AdWords and also Yahoo Search marketing data. One way is to ask people you know what they search phrases they would use to find your product or service. When you have chosen some keywords or phrases - test them. Have a look at how many pages are returned and take a closer look at the sites that come up on the front page. If your search phrase brought back over 20 million results then you know you have plenty of competition which might make ranking your site take a lot longer than you want, it might be worth finding another less competitive phrase to target. If however there are under 5 million results you will have a much better chance of ranking on the first page. For search results that have less than 1 million results you should be able to get your site on the front page in a matter of weeks.

A quick way to see results is to buy a domain with your main keywords in. This brings a lot of power to the phrase you're targeting. The trouble with that is that someone else probably has already done this and bought the domain. But you can always find similar versions. For instance say your target keywords were 'Car Leasing' and carleasing.com and car leasing.co.uk are not available; why not look for carleasinguk.com or carleasinguk.co.uk. This way you are still getting your keywords in the domain and you also getting the added bonus of having the UK word. Obviously this is only useful for sites from the UK, but the same could be done for any country.

Now my site probably wont stay in that top position so I will have to keep working on the site, adding new content and finding links to help with my popularity. Getting a site on the front pages is easy for an experienced SEO specialist like myself, but keeping it there is the hardest thing. You never know what your competitors are up too so you have to keep on your toes. If you want an SEO expert to work on your site take a good look around as there are many sharks out there. Ask to see portfolios of their work and contact those sites if you want to be a hundred percent sure you really have found an SEO expert. Many talk the talk but cant walk the walk.

Meta Tags - How to Go About Using Meta Tags For Your Website

It would be foolish to leave off Meta keyword tags or Meta description tags of your web page even while these are not the chief elements that search engines apply when higher-ranking your web site. The Meta description tag adds a concise, also equally brief summary of the articles of your web page although the Meta keyword tag adds a compact listing of the active words on your web page that are of a great deal grandness. Some of these kinds of Meta tags assist in making it comfortable to utilize the internet.

It has got rather primary for webmasters to misuse the practice of Meta tags called for to acquire greater search engine rankings. This is regrettable and has led search engines to modify the emphasis knuckled under their algorithmic program when grading sites. It is hence crucial for you to recognize how to compose right Meta tags that you acquire the one and the same finest and sanctioned search engine rankings.

While composing Meta description tags it is all important for you not to apply more than 170 characters and the article that you apply must follow that one on your web page. At that place are assorted references accessible to direct you in composing suitable Meta description tags letting in LookSmart, and Open Directory. You actually should bear your description bind nearly to W3C standards and the description should be nearly associated to the articles on your web page.

As well see while composing Meta keyword tags to let in those words that will be attending on the web page because its aim is to cater summary of the crucial keywords present during your Website page or text file. It is as well executable to use Meta tag sources to simplify also as construct valuable Meta tags for your site and therefore acquires higher search engine rankings. Still bear in mind that these Meta Tag sources will never surpass a master search engine optimization advisor.

Six SEO Secrets to Turn Visitors Into Sales

Want to increase your sales? I'm willing to bet the answer's "yes." After all, that's what SEO (search engine optimization) and getting traffic is all about. But if your visitors aren't buying once they arrive at your site, your hard work's going down the tubes! Use these 6 SEO conversion secrets to convert your visitors into sales...

SEO Secret #1: Create a compelling listing Your site's description in the search results is your first chance to make a good impression with prospective buyers. So make sure it grabs your visitors by the eyeballs! Rewrite your title tag and meta description tag - the parts that show up in the search engine listings. Experiment with new ways of describing who you are and what you do. Repeat until you hit on the combination that persuades the most people to click through to your website. Just make sure your main keyword phrase appears first in both tags.

SEO Secret #2: Create a powerful headline The average visitor to your site will spend just FOUR seconds deciding whether your site has what they're looking for. A headline that intrigues, excites, or inspires will leave your visitors in no doubt... so they'll stay long enough to see what else you have to offer. Start by stating the main benefit of what your page is offering. Will your customers learn money-saving tips, for example? Then frame your main benefit with a power statement like "How to..." or "Discover..." or "Uncover the Secret to..." (And don't forget to include your main keyword in your headline and subheads!)

SEO Secret #3: Create keyword-specific pages Create groups of related keywords for each page or section of your website (e.g., an article, blog post, or salescopy). When people land on a page that focuses on the keyword they searched for, they're much more likely to stick around - and buy your products! Just include a lead-in or link somewhere to your main sales page. Sometimes just a keyword-rich link is enough, especially when you've impressed them with your content.

SEO Secret #4: Use images and multimedia to your advantage The best images help your customers understand what your website is all about. The more directly they relate to your product and content, the more they'll reassure your visitors they've come to the right place. Audio and video can also be great sales tools when used correctly... so long as your listeners are ready for them. Turn off the auto-start feature on video or audio you include on your site. If you can create an optimized page for each video or podcast, your conversions will be even better.

SEO Secret #5: Include an internal search box Adding a search box is an easy way to help your visitors find what they're looking for. (And according to MarketingSherpa's Ecommerce Benchmark Guide, 43% of consumers use an internal search box if it's there.) And a search box offers a prime SEO opportunity, too! Using tools like Google Analytics, you can find out the exact words your market is typing to search for things they expect to find on your site. Use these keywords to optimize other pages of your website, and to test using pay-per-click.

SEO Secret #6: Encourage immediate sales A call to action is what's going to get your customers to buy today. But is yours full of keywords that will reassure your visitors that their problem will be solved? There you go - six SEO secrets to help you turn your visitors into customers. Try them out and watch your sales soar!

First Page of Google - How to Get Your Website on the First Page of Google

Why does my website need to be on the first page of Google?

If your website isn't on the first page of Google it is virtually invisible. Only 10% of searchers bother to search beyond the first page of search results. If your site is not on the first few pages, it is unlikely that your web site will ever be seen - except by you and your friends!

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts know many of the factors that Google weighs to determine which websites will rank on the first page of search results, but no one knows exactly how much weight Google attaches to each factor. Even the experts get it wrong sometimes, spending vast amounts of money on SEO can be a waste. No one can guarantee you the number 1 spot in Google or any other search engine, and if they do, it will only be for keywords that hardly anyone searches for.

Can you really get your site listed on the first page of Google?

Yes, you can get onto the first page of Google - if you follow basic search engine optimization principles and are prepared to work hard. Getting listed on the first page of Google depends on a number of factors:

  • Identifying profitable keywords
  • How much competition there is for your chosen keyword
  • The number of pages your website has
  • How much keyword rich content you have
  • How well you use keywords on your site
  • Your site's domain name
  • How may incoming links you have

Amongst others...

What you need to do to get on the first page of Google and make more sales

Make sure your website is the best for the services and products you offer. If your site has long blocks of unbroken text, is cluttered, difficult to navigate, unattractive or doesn't have what people are searching for, then even if your site gets to the top of search engine rankings, the increased traffic won't be much good to you.

Add regular features, articles and special offers, give your visitors good reason to return to your site. Note what your competitors are doing and keep abreast of new trends. Research, update and constantly improve. Make sure you have an opt in box and give your visitors a good reason to give you their email address so that you can keep in touch and bring them back to your site.

Identify the best keywords for your website. Give the search engines good reasons to include your site when they are listing relevant search results. Help your website to be found by including the words people are using to search in your text.

Apply standard website optimization techniques to your website: keyword density, keywords in page titles, descriptions, headings, sub headings, anchor text, alt image tags...

Sprinkle your keywords throughout your website and make sure you use your keywords in context. Mix up your keyword phrases, and make sure your text doesn't sound stilted or un-natural. The last thing you want to do is get on the first page of Google but lose customers.

Build lots of one way links to your website. Each links counts as a vote in your favour and is a key factor in search engine optimisation.

While SEO is important and worth paying for if you can afford it, there are many things you can do to optimize your website if you can't afford to pay an expert. Just remember that optimizing your site takes time and you are unlikely to see immediate results unless you have identified a keyword that has little effective competition.

And the bonus is that even if your site never gets to be on the first page of Google, following these steps will benefit both your website and your business.

How to Make Your Website More Google Friendly

Many people tend to forget how important making your website SEO friendly is. Ok we all know how important of-site optimisation is and without it your website is very likely to fail. However many website owners forget that your on-site optimisation is very important as well. If you website is well optimised for the search engines this will go a long way to help your site rank better.

There are many, many factors that you need to get right onsite and this should be considered when building your website. Below I will discuss some of the basic things you should have on your website.

Text navigation

Flash and JavaScript navigation is all well and good but sadly the engines have a hard time reading them. (Although Google has made public that it's beginning to index Flash far more effectively). Therefore it is a good idea to also display a text version of your navigation somewhere else on your website. This is usually at the bottom. This will help the search engines spider your website more effectively.

Sitemaps

Sitemaps are good two fold, on one hand a search engine spider can enter your sitemap and easily navigate throughout you whole website. I would also recommend you submit a sitemap.xml to Google. The other good use for sitemaps is for visitors to easily find the information they are looking for within one webpage. Your sitemap will give a bird's eye view of you website. That is if you have structured it correctly.

Orphan Pages

If you have orphan pages within your website then search engines are going to have a very hard time finding them, furthermore, once they do find it then they will have a hard job exiting from it, if you don't have proper navigation on the page. So for this reason you should make sure that all your pages are interlinked to make then easy to spider.

If you want a website design that's SEO friendly from the outset then I have heard good things about these guys.

Guide and More Tips For Search Engine Optimization

When it comes to online marketing techniques, search engine optimization or SEO are commonly used. This can improve the traffic in your website and make your page easier to be reached by more people in a shorter time frame. Any type of page can use the search engine optimization methods as a part of their marketing strategies. The method will basically let the page be read and crawled by the major search engines and even make it on the top search results. You should also know that the biggest search engine at the moment is Google and as it is widely used, you should be able to set your algorithms that can match with Google settings.

There are many aspects in a web page that affects their rank in the Google search results page. However, the following are three of the most important factors that can determine a site's rank. You can focus on these three factors to improve the search engine optimization of your webpage.

One of the most important search engine optimization factors is the Title tag. This will affect your rank in the search engine results page. You should be able to select the right keywords that can help you get a higher listing rank. The text that you use in the Title tag will make a big effect on the positioning of your site and you should not forget that the other text present in your site can also have an effect so careful selection of the words would be necessary.

Aside from the Title tag, your H1 heading tag will also have a big weight in your page rank. You should not make your H1 heading tag same as the Title tag. The Title tag will only be visible to the spiders while the H1 heading tag can be visible to both spiders and the readers. Added to this, you should know that you should properly select the keywords that you use for the body of your pages. This is an aspect of search engine optimization that is very important as it can have a big effect in your listings if you are not able to use the right set and amount of keywords. You may already know the Title tag and the H1 tag so you must focus on the keywords that will be used all over your site.

There are many other factors that can affect your webpage rank. However, focusing on these factors will already give you the edge that you need in making your site better. If these factors are well used, you can be assured that your webpage will have a higher rank in the search results, thus generating more traffic to your website.

How to Use Article Writing to Increase Your SEO

Are you trying to attract search engine traffic to your website through article writing? Then, let me share with you some tips that you can use to make this task targeted and a lot easier for you.

1. Start with keywords. The best way to impress the search engines is to make your articles keyword-rich. So, before you tap on your key board, get to know the popular search terms within your chosen niche. You will need to include these terms all throughout your content so your articles will fare well on relevant searches. You will also need to learn the Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI technique) or the process being used by search spiders in analyzing relationship between your targeted keywords and your article content. Your articles will most likely to appear on the top 10 search page results if you use words that are synonyms to your main keywords. Also, don't forget to count the number of search terms you use to make sure that you will not exceed the acceptable keyword density which is 3% of your total article word count.

2. Build inbound links for your website. Distributing your articles on various publishing sites is currently the best way to generate inbound links for your website. As you know, this is one of the most effective ways to improve your page ranking. Ensure that you use as much hyperlinks (that will take your readers to your website or to your squeeze page) as possible on your resource box or article body (if you are posting your articles on your blog and relevant forums) to boost the number of your backlinks.

3. Learn how to use relevant HTML codes. You can't just post your articles on your website or on your blog. If you want to help the search spiders in analyzing your content, you must use relevant HTML codes on your articles. Don't know how to use HTML codes? No need to worry as there are various resources (ebooks, videos, audio, and even articles) that are available online. You don't have to be computer savvy to learn the trick. In fact, all you need to do is perform a Google search and enter HTML codes tutorials and you'll surely be able to get all the kind of information you need. If you are a visual learner, you may opt to find relevant information on YouTube.

Getting More Traffic by Using Backlinks Software

I often get asked if there is any backlinks software that people can use to promote their websites or blogs. Of course we all know well that any website that doesn't get some inbound links is never going to be that popular with the search engines. Now if you look around the internet there's lots of automatic submission services or software available but inevitably all these do is submit your website to the thousands of free internet directories on the web.

The value of appearing in these sites is at the very best negligible, Google often states that the value of links from these sites is worthless simply because free directories don't offer any value at all to the searcher. I suspect if it wasn't for the possibility that people would submit their competitors sites to these directories then many of the search engines would actually penalise websites to having links from these directories. The origin of the backlink is of utmost importance in boosting your website, you should only try and obtain backlinks from reputable sources.

There is of course a fundamental problem with getting backlinks for your website, ideally you would be best to obtain these links from important websites in your own particular area. However it's fairly obvious that these are quite possibly your competitors and the webmasters are unlikely to give you a boost by linking to your site. The importance of getting one-way backlinks is well known to most webmasters and everyone wants them. There are many other ways of getting links however and the ever adaptable SEO industry is always coming up with some new method.

Some methods of Gaining Backlinks to your site

  1. Yahoo Directory - a link in Yahoos Directory will definitely give your website a huge boost. Unfortunately there is quite a high cost of $299 for a year but if you want ot invest in your website you should consider this. If your site is non commercial though then submit as it's completely free!
  2. Forum Posts - try and hang out in forums on your specific subject. Answer questions when they occur and try and be helpful, in your signature include a link back to your website
  3. Blogs - there are blogs on just about any subject you can think of. Join in discussions with useful posts and where appropriate use a link back to your website to illustrate a point

An example of a great way to get a link is to sign on to something like Yahoo answers where you can attempt to answer peoples questions. Search for questions in your area and put a link in the resource box at the bottom to a page on your site that helps answer the question. It's also a great way to get ideas for new pages as real people are asking these questions and looking for answers.

There is one more great way of obtaining good quality bookmarks to your blog or website and that is by harnessing the power of social bookmarking. There are hundreds of social bookmarking sites which can give you many quality backlinks to your website and boost your traffic. These sites are actually great for getting your new website pages indexed quickly as well as the search engines spider these sites many times a day.

The only problem with getting backlinks from these hundreds of websites is that it is extremely time consuming which is why I use some backlinks software to create these links for me. If you want a look at a program called SocialBot which you can use to automatically produce these backlinks you can read about it here.

Search Engine Optimization Basics That Must Be Known

For Webmasters to be successful in making their site popular in the Web and have a good traffic they must know how to market their site properly and so, Search Engine Optimization strategies must be practiced. If a Webmaster is not able to incorporate the proper strategies, there is a chance that their site would not be known by any person thus, the site becomes non-existing and efforts of designing and outing quality content would be useless.

Anyone can use and learn these Search Engine Optimization strategies to make their website more suitable for the web. Also, the steps are simple to follow that the beginners can learn how to use it. The basic concepts that are included in this article can help you out to boost your site so that it will be able to compete with other sites.

You should start with the knowledge that most people use the search engines to look for the information that they need. The searchers simply type the keywords for their research and the results page will appear based from the keywords. The ease of this process makes more searchers use the search engines in finding information. Thus, you should make your site designed in such a way that it fits the needs of the search engines so that the search engine will easily crawl into your site and list it in a higher rank in the results page.

Through the use of Search Engine Optimization, you can make your site have a higher rank in the search engine list. Through the use of proper keywords, you will be able to make the online contents of your site more accessible to the searchers. However, you should not put too much of the keyword in an article or page since this will be considered as spamming and the page will have to risk of being banned by the search engines. You should also use varied keywords so that you can make your site better accessed.

Search Engine Optimization can also be done through different strategies such as link building, publishing articles, and signing up in web directories. Link building is done through exchanging links with the other sites in the internet. You, as the webmaster, will ask permission from the owner of the other site and you can both benefit in the links exchange. You can also make articles that are of quality and informative content. Through this, you can embed links that you can use directing to your site. This will improve your page rank and also adding the popularity of your website. Using web directories can also be done so that your site will be listed in the search directories adding more chances for your site to be crawled. These are Search Engine Optimization strategies that are easy to do but it is very useful for making your site more popular.

Low Cost SEO

Search Engine Optimization at the Lowest Price

There is a very low correlation between cheap SEO services and high rankings, so why would someone bother with low cost SEO? Do any reputable search engine optimisation firms offer low cost SEO? Yes, some do however most of those you'll find on Google may not deliver the results you want. It could be you're wasted time and money at a time when resources are precious.

One such provider offers "GUARANTEED Page 1 in Google" and "Includes monthly submissions to more than 300 search engines at no additional charge." Submitting to 300 search engines no one uses is not going to generate business success. On the contrary it may lead to serious email spam problems for you since your web site is mentioned in the spam requests and submissions.

Bargain prices for SEO are offered by thousands of SEO service providers. These companies may be internet marketing companies, web design companies, web hosting companies, fly by nighters and even bloggers who have picked up some tips from SEO forums. They give SEO a dark reputation. There are firms who automate the process of optimizing sites, or they require your site to be hosted with them, and they may make you sign a contract that gives them control or even ownership of your domain. Others offer low monthly SEO services ranging from $69 to $399 per month.

Normally, these low cost optimisation services involve very minimal work on your site. At that price the optimizer won't want to get too heavily involved in your site's improvement. They may have 200 other websites to optimise and can't afford to spend more than one hour or less getting things done. Obviously, they won't be able to do get a professional job done. Well, you get what you pay for right?

Some professional SEO firms will offer low monthly rates and may make further offers regarding revenue sharing. Some creative ones may offer full optimisation and web hosting including a unique IP address for your web site for a low monthly payment. They may throw in optimisation of the copy and linking on your site and some link building. At this level, the service may generate some good rankings and sales leads.

SEO Buyer Beware

The low cost SEO providers you see on Google search results make a lot of promises. They typically rely on link exchanges of various types, all of which are easy for search engines to filter out. The site is left with little ranking power. If you approach the slick looking firms who are well posted around the web, ask them specifically what they are going to do for you. After exhaustive questioning, you may discover they aren't going to do much except take your money. Low cost SEO offers are usually spam and often utilize spam techniques. You see them in your spam email box deleted folder. They all boast of lots of traffic, high rankings and success, but I've never heard of one that delivered on its promises.

Legitimate SEO firms will acknowledge to you that search rankings are competitive and that it will take to gain rankings and it requires effort and diligence.

Having been in the business for 10 years, I can tell you that is more difficult than ever to gain top rankings. The level of ingenuity in on-site optimisation has grown tremendously due to the complex indexing filters that search engines are using. Search engines are ignoring these poorly funded websites and their attempts to appear in the results. At the same time, big corporate entities are creating multiple web sites, sometimes in the hundreds, to help them dominate search results. Small, poorly funded sites don't have a chance.

To get the best value for your SEO investment, you should avoid low cost SEO. However, if your budget is limited, you may find sources of information on optimising your own site at seoconsultants.com/seo/tips/ and seoconsultants.com/articles/1383/landing-page-optimization.asp for information on how to improve your site. Ezinearticles.com may also have articles with helpful, low cost seo tips.

If success is what you really need, you should plan your budget carefully. Instead of spending it all on Google Adwords, think about the long run. Over time, quality SEO services will deliver results for free and continuously. Search engine rankings tend to stick once you've obtained them. Search engines keep their rankings static which forces more of everyone else to buy search engine advertising. Wouldn't you do that if you owned a search engine?

Experienced, reliable, and proven ranking and traffic performance is what you want. Be creative when you approach an SEO service professional. Consider revenue sharing. If they're going to make you rich or triple your sales, aren't they worth having as a partner? If so, you want someone trustworthy and credible. An automated software or low cost optimization effort by a low paid staffer is not going to generate big wealth.

By hiring a low cost SEO service, you're suggesting a lot about the future of your business. Perhaps it's time to review your business goals and doing what's necessary to achieve them.

Gord Collins manages Bay Street SEO, a firm with proven performance for major corporations and ecommerce businesses. The company provides information about SEO issues on their web site and packaged Search engine optimization services for new clients. Serious, credible SEO services run the gamut from in-depth SEO audits to high volume content generation to link building and some will offer low cost SEO services for small web site owners who are serious about using SEO to best advantage. Web site owners looking to rank in today's ultracompetitive rankings need the best consultant possible. Clients typically see traffic growth of between 5,000 to 170,000 search engine referrals per month. Although Bay Street SEOs services have generated multi-million dollar successes, clients are the captains of their own ships. Smart business managers have good judgement and Bay Street SEOs clients have received genuine SEO bargains.

Search Engine Optimization - SEO Hints and Tips

Search engine optimization, otherwise known as SEO, can be used in blogging and in other online marketing techniques to drive traffic to any web page of your choice, whether it is a blog, Squidoo lens or a traditional website page.

There are specific ways to ensure that each of these three different types of web presence is optimized to the extent that they will be picked up and listed by the top search engines. The biggest by far is Google with 65%, followed by Yahoo and then MSN, so it makes sense to optimize your web page for the Google algorithms.

Algorithms

An algorithm is a sequence of procedures for carrying out a statistical mathematical computation that ends up, in the case of Google and other search engines, with a list of web pages indexed in order of relevance to specific keywords, or search terms, used by search engine users to find out information.

All search engine listings for specific keywords are based upon these algorithms, that take many different aspects of the web page into account, and although only a few Google employees on a 'need to know' basis understand the factors involved, and the weightings that are given to each, we can work out some of the more important of them, although there are believed to be over 200 aspects of a web page that contribute to its listing position.

IMPORTANT SEO FACTORS

1. Title Tag

The title tag is generally regarded as the one most important factor in determining your listing position.

A simple change in the use of keywords in your title tag can dramatically change your listing position. You MUST use your main keyword for the page in your title tag, but the other text used within it can make a lot of difference.

The Title tag appears with in the HEAD tags of the page HTML, and therefore doesn't actually appear on the page. It is visible to spiders only, and is a means of you telling the search engine spiders what your page is about. You must then use the keywords contained in the title tag in the body of your text, and in any headings and subheadings. Basically the title tag sets the theme that you must continue in the text that your readers actually see.

2. H1 Heading Tags

The H1 heading tag conveys a lot of weighting to the text within the tag.

The heading of your page should be within H1 tags, but do not make your heading exactly the same as the page title. Make it close, but not as extensive. For example, if your web page is dedicated to the use of articles as a marketing technique, your page Title tag (visible only to spiders) could be 'Article Marketing and Article Writing Techniques' while your main page heading (visible to spiders and readers) could be 'Article Writing Techniques', contained with H1 HTML tags, and in Bold and underlined. You could then have another heading using the keyword 'Article Marketing'.

3. Use of Keywords

You have set the keyword theme with your Title and H1 heading tags.

You must now continue that theme with the text on your page. Good SEO books explain in detail how best to use keywords and how to structure your entire website to attract the attention of search engine spiders and of human visitors, and an article such as this cannot do the topic justice.

It is enough to say that the three major ways for you to inform search engine spiders of the theme of your web page is by means of your Title tag, H1 heading tags and your use of keywords on your page. All three of these should focus on one or two keyword, and if done properly will go a long way towards securing you a top 10 listing for your keyword on Google.

For more detailed information on the use of keywords on your website visit SEOcious where you will find many other important factors involved in getting your web page in the top 10 listings on Google. SEOcious will show how to get listed within 2 days.

How Internet Mentality Effects SEO

The SEO process is a strategic effort to reach the top of the search engine rankings where your potential clients and customers will be able to find you. This process is different from most traditional advertising campaigns because it must adapt to the Internet mentality which is, in fact, different than more common commercialism and consumerism.

Compare the Internet consumer to the brick and mortar consumer. When a customer wanders the mall or other shopping center they have a vague idea that they may buy something... say, shoes. They will go from store to store and try a few things on and if they come across a great pair, or if they are presented with an incredible deal of some sort they may just buy.

Then there is the Internet customer. They get online and search for, say, "blue expensive shoes." This means that they are far more likely to purchase the first blue and expensive shoes they see... or they are at least more likely compared to a customer wandering from store to store. So here is the first thing SEO must consider: the potential customers have probably already made the decision to buy something. Now you have to cater to that mindset.

How do you do that? By taking into account the second Internet mentality SEO must address to be successful. And that is the intensely short attention span of the average visitor.

Everyone knows that SEO is trying to get a website to rank better because most people who use a search engine are unwilling to look past the third page of results to find the site they want. But SEO needs to think of more than that. They need to consider the searcher's intent.

When the searcher and potential customer clicks on your listing that you have worked so diligently to move up the rankings, will they see what they really expected to see? Will they find what they were really looking for?

If not, then it's just a simple click to immediately leave the site again.

Search engine optimization has a growing history and reputation, and not all of it is good. Black Hat SEO, those optimization techniques that are less than ethical, has made the Internet market a careful and suspicious one. Many customers have found themselves on a website they had no interest in, or might have even been completely opposed to. But they went there because someone had gotten it to the first page of results.

The Internet mentality won't let a customer be satisfied with clicking away in frustration. Nor will they be happy with warning a few friends about your questionable practices, not when there is so much more they can do to cause you at least as many headaches as you cased them. Popular options these days include blog posts, jamming your own forums with bad reviews, posting on other sites, and even reporting you to the search engines who will act more quickly and more brutally than the Better Business Bureau ever did.

Currently there is a big SEO push to try and take advantage of the social mentality on the Internet. Some of these have been more effective than others. The underlying idea was sound. In the social networking model the plan is to get one consumer to recommend the product or service to another customer. Or, at least, to make it look like the recommendation comes from another customer.

But this, like any other SEO tactic, can backfire when it's done wrong. Communities are very protective of their own, and if they find that someone has tried to infiltrate their community in the name of base commerce, you will alienate yourself from that group completely.

When you undertake an SEO campaign, remembering the Internet mentality is one of the foundational aspects that can help you build true, long-term success.

5 Reasons to Never Ignore SEO

When I started online I kept hearing the term SEO, I had no idea what it was and two years later I wish I would have learned SEO from the start, instead of being a slow learner on this topic. For those who don't know SEO = search engine optimization, basically its optimizing your webpage so that it will get higher rankings in search engines, which equates to more people visiting your webpage. And if you have done things right, convert those visitors into paying customers, or whatever the goal of your website is.

1.) SEO is free traffic, there are no advertising cost associated with SEO

2.) Helps build a "long term" presence online.

a. If you turn off your PPC campaign your webpage disappears. This is not the case with SEO

3.) If don't correctly you can get free 100% targeted traffic

4.) Correct SEO has a snow ball effect and you can see traffic double and even triple in a short amount of time

5.) Once you learn SEO, you will be able to use it to easily rank for "fad" search terms, which can get your huge amounts of traffic

Those are just 5 easy reasons why you should never ignore SEO, but there are many other reasons that I haven't even talked about in this article. If you don't know anything about SEO, go find all the free material you can on the subject and become a master or SEO, the results easily pay for themselves. Just remember that it's free, and the traffic never stop and the longer you work at it the more results you will see.
